Changes to the New York State Power of Attorney Law as of December 2020 based on the Bill signed by Governor Cuomo
The presentation will discuss the changes to the New York State Power of Attorney Law. William ("Bill") Davies will explain the new modifications and provide best practices for execution of the Power of Attorney and also guidance on acceptance of the Power of Attorney by third parties.
William P. Davies is a partner at Davies Law Firm, P.C. He received his J.D from Albany Law School, and an LL.M. in Estate Planning from the University of Miami Law School. He has spoken and written about the New York Power of Attorney at the Adult Abuse Training Institute for Adult Protective Service workers and at Albany Law School as a guest lecturer. His paper on the use of the New York Special Proceeding for Powers of Attorney was published in the Albany Law Review in 2017
